Quezon City residents can take a free online assessment through Obra, a telehealth platform that serves patients nationwide. A licensed doctor reviews your answers first. Only if the doctor prescribes it does Obra connect you with a pharmacy, where a licensed pharmacist prepares compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. Obra does not prescribe or dispense medicines itself.

Key takeaways

Quezon City in numbers

In the 2020 Census, it was the most populous of the country's 33 highly urbanized cities, at 2.96 million people. It was one of four that had passed one million, with Manila, Davao and Caloocan. The 2024 Census counted 3,084,270 residents.

The city is part of the National Capital Region, home to 14,001,751 people in 2024. The PSA classifies every barangay in the region as urban.

What the 2023 National Nutrition Survey found in Metro Manila

The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) reports its 2023 survey by region, not by city, so the figures below cover all of the National Capital Region. They are for adults aged 20 to 59.

Measure (2023 National Nutrition Survey) National Capital Region Philippines
Overweight or obesity (Asia Pacific cut-offs) 65.9% 57.1%
High fasting blood glucose (126 or more) 11.9% 7.5%

Put simply: about two in three adults aged 20 to 59 in Metro Manila had overweight or obesity, and the region's share with high fasting blood glucose was higher than the national share. No city-level nutrition figure for Quezon City was found, so this page does not give one.

How Obra works for patients in Quezon City

Obra Health is a telehealth platform, not a pharmacy, and it can serve patients in all cities in the Philippines. The steps:

  1. You complete a free assessment online.
  2. A licensed doctor reviews it.
  3. If the doctor prescribes it, Obra connects you with a pharmacy that offers compounded semaglutide or compounded tirzepatide, prepared by a licensed pharmacist.

Obra itself does not prescribe or dispense medicines. A compounded preparation is not the same product as a branded medicine: compounded semaglutide is not Ozempic, Wegovy or Rybelsus, and compounded tirzepatide is not Mounjaro or Zepbound.

PhilHealth offices in Quezon City

Quezon City hosts two PhilHealth offices listed in the PhilHealth directory:

  • PRO NCR, the regional office for Metro Manila: 18th to 19th Floor (Penthouse), Panorama Technocenter, 1029 Epifanio de los Santos Ave, Project 7.
  • Local Health Insurance Office, South Triangle: Lower Ground Floor, Corporate Building, 145 Mother Ignacia, Barangay South Triangle.

RA 10918, the Philippine Pharmacy Act, Sec. 33: "Prescription medicines may be dispensed only by a duly registered and licensed pharmacist and only with a valid prescription of a physician, dentist, or veterinarian."

For branded medicines, a doctor may issue an e-prescription if you qualify. Obra does not procure or supply branded medicines; you fill the prescription at the pharmacy of your choice and pay the pharmacy.

Heat at Science Garden and the pen labels

PAGASA's Science Garden station in Quezon City records an average daily maximum of 32.1 °C over the year and 34.6 °C in April (1991 to 2020 climate normals).

The Philippine package inserts for Ozempic and Wegovy FlexTouch say that after first use the pen can be kept for up to 6 weeks: "Store below 30°C or in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C)." The Mounjaro KwikPen insert says: "After first use 30 days. Store unrefrigerated at room temperature below 30 ºC." All three say to keep unused pens in a refrigerator at 2 to 8 °C. The GLP-1 pen storage guide quotes each label in full.
